Accessibility statement
Last updated November 3, 2026
We want everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or voice control, to be able to find and compare care homes on California RCFE Finder. We design and test the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard, starts with a “skip to main content” link, and shows a clear focus outline.
- Text and controls meet AA color contrast, and pages reflow on small screens without sideways scrolling.
- Form fields have labels, required fields are marked, and errors are announced and linked to the field.
- Motion is reduced when your device asks for it, and nothing flashes.
- Links that open a new tab say so, and images have text alternatives.
- We check pages with automated tools (axe) and by hand with a keyboard and screen reader when we make changes.
Known limits
- State inspection reports open on the CDSS website, which we don't control.
- Maps come from OpenStreetMap and may be hard to use with a screen reader; every listing also shows the address in text and a directions link.
- Cloudflare's spam check on forms occasionally asks you to confirm you're human. If it blocks you, email us and we'll pass your message on.
- Photos and descriptions added by care homes may be missing details; tell us and we'll ask the home to fix them.
Tell us about a barrier
If something is hard to use, email contact@rcfedirectory.com with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days and will give you the information you need in another format in the meantime.
