About us
California RCFE Finder is a free, independent directory of every residential care facility for the elderly (RCFE) licensed in California, from six-bed board and care homes to large assisted living communities. We built it so families can see a home's license, inspections, and citations in plain language before they call or visit.
Where the information comes from
- State records. License status, capacity, licensee, administrator, inspection and complaint visits, and Type A and Type B citations come from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Community Care Licensing Division. We refresh the full list weekly and each home's detailed record on a rolling basis, and every listing links to the official report. We don't edit state records.
- Care homes. Photos, prices, services, openings, a public phone number, and the current administrator are added by the home after it claims its listing. Those listings say “Verified by owner”.
- Our summaries. County, city, and topic pages describe homes using counts from the records above. Our guides cite the official sources they rely on.
How we make money
Families never pay. We earn money by building and hosting websites for care homes. Homes with a website from us move up in search and area results as a group, in a random order that changes daily, and are marked “Paid listing”. After them, homes are sorted by how well they match your search, then by name. Care homes pay for their website and the online visibility that comes with it; we're not a placement or referral agency. Paying never changes a home's license, inspection, or citation information. We don't make placements, charge referral fees, or sell your information.
Who we are
California RCFE Finder is operated by RCFE Directory, a California business that also builds and hosts websites for care homes. We aren't affiliated with CDSS or the State of California, and we don't inspect, license, or endorse care homes.
