Privacy policy

This policy explains what California RCFE Finder (rcfedirectory.com) collects, why, who it goes to, and the choices you have. We don't sell personal information, and families never pay to use the directory.

Health information

Please don't send medical information through this site. Our forms don't ask about diagnoses, medications, or care needs, and we aren't a health care provider. Care homes talk through care needs with you directly.

What we collect

When you browse

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and block attacks.
We count listing views, searches, and taps to call a home, get directions, or claim a listing as anonymous daily totals on our own servers. These counts use no cookies, store no IP address, and can't be tied to you.
Pages don't load third-party trackers. A listing's map loads from OpenStreetMap only when you choose “Show map”, and Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection loads only when you start filling in a form.
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you arrived, your device type, and your approximate location. It never receives what you type into a search box or form. See Cookies and your choices.

When you message a care home

Messages are available only on listings the home's owner has claimed. We collect your name, your phone number or email, who the care is for, move-in timing, your message, and the page you sent it from. We send it to the people who run that home and keep it so they can see it in their portal.

Care home owners

When you claim a listing or use the owner portal, we collect your name, role, email, phone, and license number, plus anything you add to your listing or website. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.

Licensing records

Listings come from public California Department of Social Services records, including licensee and administrator names and facility addresses. To correct a listing, contact us or update it with CDSS.

How we use it

To deliver your message to the home you chose.
To run owner accounts, listings, websites, and billing.
To keep the site secure and stop spam.
If you allow analytics, to learn which pages are useful so we can improve them.

We don't use your information for advertising.

Who we share it with

The care home you contact.
Service providers that run the site for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security, and Turnstile spam protection), Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (owner payments), OpenStreetMap (maps, when you choose to load one), and Google (analytics, only if you allow it).
Authorities, when the law requires it.

We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies and your choices

Essential: owner portal sign-in cookies and spam protection on forms. These are needed for the site to work.
Analytics: Google Analytics cookies (named _ga), set only after you choose “Allow”. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we treat it as “Don't allow” for analytics. You can change your choice at any time with , also in the footer of every page.

How long we keep it

Messages to care homes: until you or the home ask us to delete them.
Analytics: up to 14 months in Google Analytics.
Owner billing records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@rcfedirectory.com from the address you used with us. We respond within 45 days and won't treat you differently for asking. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we extend them to everyone.

Children

This site isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
